Benromach Sassicaia Finish 2009 ABV: 45% Longrow SpringbankNose: Brown sugar, red berries with a little cinnamon, mustard & honey along with blood oranges. Palate: Some smoke, blueberries, pepper, clove, with a little liquorice, dried Mediterranean herbs with hints of cranberries. Finish: Medium long, with an evident winey side, along with a few mild tannins, salt and soft peat. Bottle Size: 70cls ABV: 45%

This one was distilled in 1998 and aged in ex-bourbon casks before being moved over to rare aged Tawny Port pipes (which matured Port for 20 years prior to being used for whisky) for its final two years of maturation

Vanilla emerges and a hint of peppery warmth comes to the fore

wholemeal toast and mellow wood spice

some citrus notes

oily texture brings sultanas

a hint of salinity coming through from the liquorice salt with more citrus on the finish

Nose: Barley with a little vanilla sweetness and spice

cinnamon and cloves

pear and fresh pineapple arouse the senses
